1. You will learn about layers in Paint.net and produce 2 original images.

2. You will review a series of publications (business letter, flyer, brochure, and poster) and attempt to describe the design in relation to the amount of text and graphics

3. You will create at least two different products using built-in templates (Microsoft Publisher) making the necessary changes to the template so that it is fit for purpose and audience

4. You will review one of their publications and one of another student giving recommendations for improvement where appropriate

5. You will look at logos and try to formulate rules for what makes a good logo and what design characteristics make bad logos.

6. You will plan a logo by collecting stimulus materials from the Internet or by producing a hand drawn sketch

7. You will design a vector logo design using DrawPlus

8. You will evaluate the logo of another student compared to the rules they made. They will provide written feedback on how the logo could be further improved.

9. You will research, design and produce a Vector avatar using Drawplus



FINAL TASK

Helping Hand Saigon want someone to design either a poster or a flyer. The purpose is to try and get more people interested in volunteering at a local orphanage in Binh Thanh. 

1. Decide on who the audience will be
2. Plan on paper either an A4 poster or flyer
3. Using the design skills you have learnt, make the poster using any suitable software.
4.  Screenshot and label the poster describing all of the skills you have used to make it and why it is suitable for your audience.

Grade 8; Writing Assessment - Project 1 Review

Produce a project review. Always include comments on what could be improved, use keywords that you have been taught and try to make use of feedback from others.

• How well did you meet the standards and were you satisfied with your final products i.e. the financial model and the brochure. Would this trip be a success?

• What new skills did you learn during this project and how did they help you?

• How well did your plan work? Did you use either the Systems Life Cycle or the Gantt Chart to help you manage the project. What did you learn about planning a big project like this?

• Did you test your model? Does it work? how did decide who would test if for you?

• What did others have to say about your work

• What improvements you would make if you had time. Did anything go wrong?

• What you would do differently if you did the project again. Do you have any alternative ideas that would make this project more successful?

Rules of Good Design: Making a Brochure

Using Images is a good way to attract interest in your designs. Follow these rules but remember that the goal of your brochure is to communicate a message

We all want to create a visually appealing poster or brochure however If you do not have a clear and concise message then you do not have a good design.

Start editing video for your audience

Storyboards and Timelines

The storyboard and timeline are where you will build and arrange your movie, bringing all your clips, stills and sound files together. Some video editing packages make use of a storyboard, which allows you to assemble the clips in the correct order before editing them. In the image below, you can see a storyboard with one clip in place.

Adding Video Effects

A video effect can be used to add interesting visuals or texture to a movie clip, image or title. Watch this video to find out more.

Video Summary

1. Go to Tools>Effects and choose the one you want.
2. Drag the effect onto the desired clip on the timeline. Effects can be added to video files, titles and images.
3. A symbol will appear on the timeline where an effect has been added.

Adding Video Transitions

A video transition can be placed between two movie clips to join them in an interesting way and ensure that a whole movie flows together. Watch this video to see how.

Video Summary

1. Go to Tools>Transitions and choose the one you want.
2. Drag the transition to the timeline and add between two clips.

Adding Text (Titles, Subtitles and Credits)

Video editing software allows you to add text at the beginning (known as titles) and at the end (known as credits) of your movie. You can add text anywhere in your movie. Watch this video to see how.

1. You will Plan out a multimedia science presentation of  6 slides. You will decide on the audience and purpose of the presentation

2. You will prepare digital resources including sound effects, bitmap images and video

3. You will design and make a template for your presentation using Slide Master

4. Embed (add) the digital content; add an edited video, edited images and sound, along with the text content

5. Review the work to ensure it is fit for purpose and meets the requirement of the audience

6. Peer review a partner's presentations and provide written feedback in the notes area with possible improvements

7. Explain / Annotate your own presentation (final review)
